What changed from 2020 to 2025 is mostly drivetrain choices and standard equipment, so match each RVR's year and trim against the notes below.

Across all six years, Mitsubishi Canada lists Forward Collision Mitigation and Lane Departure Warning on the GT only.
2020 Mitsubishi RVR
Mitsubishi Canada's 2020 RVR announcement describes a new exterior design with LED headlamps and daytime running lamps as standard. It also introduced the ES AWC to the line-up.
The 2020 spec sheet offers the ES and SE in front-drive or AWC, and the SEL, Limited Edition and GT with AWC only.
The SE AWC moved to the 2.4 L engine for 2020, while the ES and the front-drive SE use the 2.0 L.
Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are standard on the SE and above, not on the ES. Remote start is listed only as an accessory.
2021 Mitsubishi RVR
The 2021 spec sheet carries the same seven trims and the same drivetrain split as 2020.
The heated steering wheel and rain-sensing wipers are standard on the Limited Edition and GT. Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert stay standard on the SE and above, and remote start is still listed only as an accessory.
2022 Mitsubishi RVR
Mitsubishi Canada's 2022 sheet marks several changes in bold: automatic LED headlamps and rain-sensing wipers on every trim, and the heated steering wheel added to the SEL.
It also adds a factory remote engine starter on the Limited Edition and GT, and rear USB ports on the SE AWC and above.
On the 2022 SE, SEL and Limited Edition, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are footnoted "subject to availability on these trims". A 2022 in one of those trims may not have them, so check the vehicle.
2023 Mitsubishi RVR
The 2023 sheet keeps the same seven trims and the same front-drive and AWC choices as 2020 to 2022.
Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are standard on the SE and above. The heated steering wheel is on the SEL, Limited Edition and GT, and factory remote start is on the Limited Edition and GT.
2024 Mitsubishi RVR
For 2024, the front-drive SE is gone. Mitsubishi Canada's 2024 sheet lists an ES FWD, then an ES AWC, SE, SEL, NOIR Edition and GT, all with AWC.
Mitsubishi Canada's 2024 announcement says the RVR carried its features over from 2023, except that the SEL gained power-folding door mirrors as standard. The NOIR Edition is based on the SEL.
The ES models use the 2.0 L engine and the SE, SEL, NOIR and GT use the 2.4 L. Factory remote start is on the GT only.
2025 Mitsubishi RVR
Mitsubishi Canada's 2025 RVR announcement says "RVR continues to offer Mitsubishi Motors' All-Wheel Control (AWC) as standard equipment on all but the entry ES FWD."
The 2025 sheet adds Rear Seat Occupant Alert as standard on every trim. Mitsubishi Canada has published later RVR model years, which this guide does not cover.
Which RVR Trims Have AWC for a Leeds and Grenville Winter
Every 2020 to 2025 RVR came in both front-drive and AWC form, according to Mitsubishi Canada's spec sheets. From 2020 to 2023 the ES and SE were offered either way, and for 2024 and 2025 only the ES FWD is front-drive.
On a used ES, or on a 2020 to 2023 SE, confirm the drivetrain on that vehicle.

When we searched Transport Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database on September 21, 2026, it listed no safety recall for the 2023, 2024 or 2025 RVR.
Transport Canada's notice describes the issue this way.
"On certain vehicles, incorrect programming in the electronic control unit for the continuously variable transmission (CVT-ECU) may cause engine damage under specific circumstances. If this happens, the engine could stall and you may not be able to restart it."
Its corrective action reads: "Mitsubishi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the CVT-ECU."
That is a software reprogramming on certain vehicles, not a finding that every 2020 to 2022 RVR has the fault. A recall notice is not a verdict on any model year, and this guide ranks none.
Check any RVR's VIN with Mitsubishi Motors Canada's recall lookup and Transport Canada's database, and ask for proof the recall work was done.
Mitsubishi Canada says you can find the VIN on a sticker in the driver's side door jamb, at the base of the driver's side windshield, or on the vehicle registration or proof-of-insurance card.
New recalls can be added after the date we searched, so run the VIN check right before you sign.

What the Mitsubishi Warranty Means for a Second Owner
Mitsubishi Canada says its warranty terms run from the original in-service date and apply only to the original owner, and that later owners receive the balance of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Every 2020 to 2025 RVR spec sheet lists that basic coverage as 5 years or 100,000 km.
Ask a Mitsubishi dealer to confirm what coverage remains on that VIN.
Mitsubishi Canada's "What's new for 2025" announcement puts it this way.
"All warranty coverage terms are from the original in-service dates and are applicable only to the original owner of new, retailed models purchased from an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. Subsequent owners receive the balance of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty."
Its 2024 model-year announcement says the same thing in nearly the same words.
The same RVR spec sheets list a powertrain warranty of 10 years or 160,000 km and roadside assistance of 5 years or unlimited kilometres, as the RVR was sold new.
Mitsubishi names only the balance of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for later owners. So do not assume a used RVR carries the 10-year powertrain coverage.
Because coverage counts from the day the RVR first went into service, the in-service date on that vehicle decides how much is left.
Warranty and recall work on an RVR goes to a Mitsubishi dealer. Mitsubishi Canada's warranty page says to read its Product Guide, available at your dealer, for the full eligibility requirements.
If an unexpected repair bill is the thing you most want to avoid, know what coverage is left before you sign, not after.
Everyday Items to Look Over on the Test Drive
Equipment on a used RVR depends on its year and trim, so check the features you care about on the vehicle itself.
On a 2022 SE, SEL or Limited Edition, look for Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert rather than assume them, because Mitsubishi Canada footnotes both as "subject to availability on these trims".
Factory remote start is listed on the 2022 and 2023 Limited Edition and GT, and on the 2024 and 2025 GT. The 2020 and 2021 sheets list remote start only as an accessory.
