Ford Maintenance Schedule in Kilometres, and Why Yours Depends on Your VIN

There is no single Ford maintenance schedule. Ford publishes one per vehicle, and the exact kilometre intervals depend on the VIN, the model year, the model, the engine, the configuration and how the vehicle is driven.

Brockville Ford can confirm the correct schedule for your Ford from its VIN, using official Ford maintenance information.

Bring the VIN, or bring the vehicle, and we read your own chart with you before the first cold snap puts a winter of driving on it.

Everything below is scoped to the exact vehicle it came from. Where a number appears, the model year and the model it belongs to are attached to it, because a chart written for one truck is not the schedule for the next one.

Here is the short version, before the detail:

The question

The short answer

Who publishes the schedule

Ford does, per vehicle, by model year, model, engine and configuration. Ford's own maintenance schedule page is a lookup rather than a printed list.

What has to be checked by VIN and model year

Every interval and every item on your own chart: oil and filter, tire rotation, air filters, spark plugs, driveline fluids, brake fluid timing, and anything your configuration adds.

What severe driving means

Your own manual defines it for your vehicle. In a 2026 Ford F-150 example it names short trips, temperatures well below or above average, dusty conditions, extra idling, and heavy loads or towing.

When to book service

When the vehicle asks for it, when the season changes how you drive, or when nobody can tell you what was done last.

What Brockville Ford does with it

Bring the VIN and an advisor goes through the schedule for that exact vehicle with you at the counter.

Key Takeaways

  • There is no one chart that covers the lineup. The right intervals are the ones printed for your VIN, model year, model, engine and configuration.

  • Severe driving is defined in your own vehicle's manual, and short trips and cold weather are named in the 2026 Ford F-150 example quoted below.

  • A 2026 Ford F-150 example is used in this article as an example only. It is not the schedule for any other Ford.

  • Ford's 2026 Model Year Warranty Guide asks the owner to keep the receipts with the vehicle and to have the dealer complete the Scheduled Maintenance Validation Record.

How Often to Service Your Ford in Kilometres

Follow the intervals printed for your own vehicle. Ford does not publish one set of Ford service intervals in km that covers its whole lineup, so the answer is the one your VIN returns.

Ford's own owner support puts it plainly: multiple vehicle models and engine types have unique requirements, so a vehicle is serviced on its specific maintenance schedule.

Here is one worked example, and it belongs to one truck. In a 2026 Ford F-150 example, footnote 1 of the scheduled maintenance chart in the Canadian-market owner's manual reads: do not exceed one year or 16,000 km between service intervals.

That ceiling belongs to the 2026 F-150. It is not a figure to carry onto another model or another model year.

On Fords fitted with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor, Ford's owner support says the system calculates the oil change interval from how the vehicle is used, the conditions it runs in and the time since the last oil service.

The monitor does not test the oil in the pan. It does not sample what is in there, and knowing that saves you from reading the gauge as something it is not.

Two messages matter. Change Engine Oil Soon appears with about five percent of the oil life left, and Oil Change Required means there is none left.

On vehicles set up with the oil life service reminder, Ford's own app shows the reminder as past due once the oil life has sat at zero for fourteen days, or the vehicle has been driven more than 800 km past that point.

The app's estimate has a stated limit as well. It may not display on a vehicle that has sat for more than three days, when the driving pattern changes sharply, or before it has learned from enough trips.

That is the truck that sits through a rained-out week in Augusta and then does a 401 run to Kingston. When the pattern is not predictable, the calendar and the odometer take over.

For the oil side of this on a work truck, our guide to the F-150 oil change interval on a work truck goes through that part of it. Our service department will tell you which of it your own chart actually calls for.

Where to Find the Ford Maintenance Schedule for Your Own Vehicle

In three places, and all three are tied to your vehicle rather than to the badge on the tailgate.

The Scheduled Maintenance chapter of your own owner's manual is the first. Ford's maintenance schedule lookup is the second, and it prints nothing until it has a VIN or a year and model.

Your service advisor's screen is the third.

You do not need to know where the VIN is stamped to get this done. Bring your registration, your insurance slip or the vehicle itself, and we take the number from there.

Read the Scheduled Maintenance chapter once while you are at it. Your manual's owner-maintenance pages also set out the checks that belong to you between visits, and that is the half nobody has to pay for.

If a warning lamp is what sent you looking in the first place, our guide to Ford dashboard symbols and what they mean sorts the ones that can wait from the ones that cannot.

When you want the answer for your own vehicle rather than a general one, book a maintenance schedule lookup online and an advisor will go through it with you at the counter.

How Winter Driving and Short Trips Change Your Service Intervals

Winter driving and short trips can move you onto the severe service items in your own vehicle's chart.

Your manual defines severe driving for your vehicle, and in a 2026 Ford F-150 example the definition names a lot of the driving people actually do around Brockville, Augusta and the concession roads of Leeds and Grenville.

That is Ford's wording for that one truck, in the Scheduled Maintenance chapter of the 2026 F-150 Owner's Manual, under What Are Considered Severe Driving Conditions:

"A vehicle that is driven for short trips of less than 5-10 mi (8-16 km), driving in temperatures well below or above average, driving in any dusty conditions, idling more than recommended such as in traffic, and driving with a heavy load or while towing a load are considered severe driving conditions."

Read that against your own week. Four of those five describe ordinary driving in Leeds and Grenville:

  • The short trip. A run from Augusta into Brockville for materials sits inside that range, and on a cold morning the engine never gets properly warm.

  • The cold. Temperatures well below average is Ford's phrase, and it covers a January start in an open yard as well as anything we could write.

  • The dust. A gravel concession road is dusty driving in those terms.

  • The load. A loaded box and a trailer behind you are both named in the same sentence, so hauling to a job site counts twice over.

In that same 2026 Ford F-150 example, driving in any of those conditions means following the severe service maintenance items listed in the same scheduled maintenance chart. Which items your own Ford's manual lists, and where it lists them, is part of what we look up from the VIN.

Here is what that costs on that one example. In a 2026 Ford F-150 example fitted with the pickup bed power outlet and used in severe service, the chart brings the spark plugs forward to 96,600 km, against 160,000 km otherwise.

The same 2026 Ford F-150 chapter is blunt about its own oil table. It is a guideline only, and actual oil change intervals generally decrease with severity of use.

What severe driving does to your own Ford's intervals is a different question with a different answer, and it comes off your VIN.

Our winter tire package is the simple way to get a set on before the first snow. If you are still deciding between the two kinds of rubber, our comparison of all-season and all-weather tires for the 401 commute lays out which one suits which driver.

If that list of conditions reads like your own week, bring the VIN in before the first cold snap and find out which severe service items your own chart actually calls for.

How Winter Driving and Short Trips Change Your Service Intervals

What Happens at a Ford Maintenance Visit

More than an oil change, and the list comes off your vehicle's own chart rather than off a menu we wrote.

In a 2026 Ford F-150 example, the chart calls for a set of items at every oil change interval, and most of them are inspections and a tire rotation.

Here is that one truck's list, and it belongs to the 2026 Ford F-150 example only:

  • Change the engine oil and filter on that 2026 F-150 example, and reset the reminder afterward.

  • Rotate the tires, inspect them for wear and measure the tread depth.

  • A multi-point inspection, which the chart marks as recommended.

  • Inspect the automatic transmission fluid level, on vehicles with a dipstick.

  • Inspect the brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, linings, hoses and the parking brake.

  • Inspect the engine coolant strength and the hoses, the exhaust system and the heat shields.

  • Inspect the front axle on four-wheel drive, the halfshaft boots, the steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, tie-rod ends and driveshaft.

  • Inspect the wheels and related parts for abnormal noise, wear, looseness or drag.

  • Inspect the cabin air filter and the engine air filter, and service them as required.

That is one truck's list. Your own vehicle's chart will call for its own, in its own order, and that is the one to work from.

Two items on that same chart are worth knowing on their own. In that 2026 Ford F-150 example, brake fluid comes due every three years, and the chart says not to exceed the designated time for that interval.

The chart's own note on that job is that brake fluid service needs special equipment available at an authorized dealer. That is Ford's equipment requirement rather than our opinion about driveway work, and it is why we flag that item when we read your chart with you.

The same chart also ties the bigger jobs to an oil change. In that 2026 Ford F-150 example, the other maintenance items are performed within 4,800 km of the last engine oil and filter change, and our reading of that is that they ride along with an oil change rather than coming back as three separate appointments.

The Works is our service package page. Ask at the counter how it lines up with what your own chart calls for.

What Happens at a Ford Maintenance Visit

Why a 2026 Ford F-150 Chart Does Not Fit the Next Ford

Because Ford writes a maintenance schedule per vehicle, not one for the badge on the tailgate.

The model year, the model, the engine and the configuration all move the intervals, which is why Ford's own maintenance schedule page is a lookup rather than a printed list.

Configuration alone can move a number. The 96,600 km spark plug row above is not a rule for the 2026 F-150, it is the row for a 2026 F-150 with the pickup bed power outlet used in severe service, and the same chart says 160,000 km otherwise.

Now take that across model years, engines and drivetrains, and you can see why we do not print a chart on this page and call it the Ford maintenance schedule. Your half-ton and your neighbour's can sit on two different charts, and the gap between them is not always small.

That matters more once the factory coverage has run out. A vehicle past its warranty has usually had a few different hands in it, and the schedule it belongs on is the one printed for that VIN, not the one somebody remembers.

Our service advisors will go through your vehicle's own schedule with you at the counter and say what is due and what is not.

Why a 2026 Ford F-150 Chart Does Not Fit the Next Ford

How Brockville Ford Confirms Your Schedule From Your VIN

Give us the VIN and we pull the manufacturer-recommended maintenance items for that exact vehicle, then tell you what is due, what is not, and what your driving changes.

You leave knowing what the next visit is for, and what it is not for.

Ford's 2026 Model Year Warranty Guide puts the job in the owner's hands in writing. It is your responsibility to make sure all the scheduled maintenance is performed, and that the materials used meet Ford engineering specifications.

The same guide asks you to keep the receipts for completed maintenance work with the vehicle, and to have the dealer complete the Scheduled Maintenance Validation Record.

That record is a real page in your owner's literature, and it is the difference between saying you kept the schedule and showing it. Bring it with you and we will complete it with the work.

If you are working out where your coverage stands, our Ford warranty guide for Canada covers the factory terms this article deliberately leaves out.

You can also contact our service team with the VIN and the question, and we will come back to you with what the schedule says.

If your vehicle is how you earn a living, start with our professional fleet service, because a truck in the shop is a day that does not get billed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I service my Ford in kilometres

Follow the intervals printed for your own vehicle, because Ford publishes a schedule per model year, model, engine and configuration rather than one for the lineup. In a 2026 Ford F-150 example, footnote 1 of the scheduled maintenance chart says do not exceed one year or 16,000 km between service intervals, and on vehicles with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor the monitor sets the actual oil interval inside that.

Another model or another model year is that vehicle's own chart, which we look up by VIN.

Where do I find the exact maintenance schedule for my Ford

In the Scheduled Maintenance chapter of your own owner's manual, in Ford's maintenance schedule lookup, which needs a VIN or a year and model before it prints anything, or on our service advisor's screen.

Bring your registration, your insurance slip or the vehicle, and we take the VIN from there.

Does driving around Brockville count as severe driving on a Ford

Often, and it is the manufacturer's test rather than ours. In a 2026 Ford F-150 example, the owner's manual counts short trips of less than 5-10 mi (8-16 km), driving in temperatures well below or above average, driving in any dusty conditions, idling more than recommended such as in traffic, and driving with a heavy load or while towing a load as severe driving conditions.

Your own Ford's manual carries its own definition, so measure your week against that one.

Is a 2026 Ford F-150 maintenance schedule the same for other Fords

No. Every figure in this article that comes from a 2026 F-150 chart belongs to that truck and that model year only.

Model year, model, engine and configuration all change the intervals, which is why Ford's own maintenance schedule page is a lookup rather than a printed list, and why we confirm yours from the VIN.

How often does a 2026 Ford F-150 need brake fluid

In a 2026 Ford F-150 example, the scheduled maintenance chart calls for brake fluid every three years and says not to exceed the designated time for that interval.

The chart's own note is that brake fluid service requires special equipment available at an authorized dealer, so it is one job our service department is set up for.

Will servicing my Ford at an independent shop void my warranty

No, and we are not going to tell you it does. Ford's 2026 Model Year Warranty Guide says the New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover maintenance itself, and does not cover damage caused by failing to maintain the vehicle, maintaining it improperly, or using the wrong part, lubricants or fluids.

That is the 2026 guide's wording, for 2026 model year Ford cars and light trucks. Your own vehicle's warranty booklet governs your own coverage, so keep the receipts with the vehicle and have the dealer complete the Scheduled Maintenance Validation Record.

Can Brockville Ford check my maintenance schedule by VIN

Yes. Give us the VIN and we pull the manufacturer-recommended maintenance items for that exact vehicle, tell you what is due and what is not, and complete the Scheduled Maintenance Validation Record with the work.

Bring the vehicle, your registration or your insurance slip, and the VIN comes off any of them.
